Moulin St Georges

2014 Moulin St Georges

The Château Moulin Saint Georges 2013 is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, picked between 3 and 7 October and aged in 85% new oak for what will around 18 months. The pH came in at 3.50 - Pauline Vauthier remarking that is usually lower than the family's other Saint Emilion, possibly because they do not add fertilizer on the soil. It has a bright, vivacious bouquet with blueberry jam, wild strawberry and citrus fruit. The acidity really comes through conspicuously on the palate: this is razor-sharp, very edgy with a focused, minerally finish. The question is whether it would benefit from a slightly higher pH and maybe with respect to this vintage that is true. But still, this is a well crafted, personality-driven Saint Emilion
